Aniseed

Also known as sweet cumin
Commonly found in the Middle East, Russia, Turkey, India and many parts of Europe where it is often used to flavour drinks. Used in the making of sweets, cakes, biscuits, breads, fish, shellfish, tomato-based sauces, vegetable dishes, sweet and savoury mixtures with nuts and dried fruit (especially figs and chestnuts).
